Here at Better Than a Cupcake, we are committed to showing off the work of the fashion industry’s best and brightest upcoming stars. Though I may be bias to the fact, you really can’t get better or brighter than my new favorite designer, Dan Natale!
As I mentioned in an earlier article titled, Crossing off my Bucket List, I had the luxury of shadowing Dan as he prepared to debut his newest five piece collection in the Sisters on the Runway Charity fashion show on Friday, October 11 held at the Parsons’ Fashion Building.
It was honestly one of the best days of my life! Not only did I get to see the inner-workings of a fashion-show with my very own eyes, but I also made a new friend! Sweet, creative, daring, and boldly talented, Dan Natale is my new favorite designer! Seeing fashion as an art form, Dan’s overall method is just as creative as he is. Allowing the fabrics he uses to speak directly to him, Dan creates various drapes and shapes his hands in a process that he describes as organic: “The thing about me as a designer, it’s unlike other things. It’s an exploration of shape that I conduct by myself in a way. So where other people might be inspired by flowers or a painting, I like to just take a fabric I like and explore what I can do with shape and what I can do with it. And when I get something I like I’ll sort of build the collection around that exploration of shape”.
Creating a collection that is as daring as it is breathtaking, Dan proves what true elegance is all about. Showing fans that one doesn't need to be in a skin-tight ensemble to be provocative, Dan's work let's clothes speak for themselves as they accentuate women's true beauty. Sleek and powerful, Dan's entire collection is a testament of just how clothes should feel on the body: comfortable and edgy.
As you can see, Better Than A Cupcake and I are already obsessed with Dan and you should be too! Move over Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs, this man is about to give you all a run for your money!
