There is a fine line between dressing as a couple and matching outfits. Red carpets, proms, weddings and other special events call for some sort of fluidity between you and your partner. Here's few tips from celebrity couples on how to dress like a couple without going overboard, like Kanye and Kim here.
Keep it classy
One couple that is the essence of red carpet perfection is Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas. He usually dons a classic tuxedo and she in a glamorous gown. Both look regal and elegant. Plus, no color is wrong against a black and white suit!
One person can shine...
If both partners are wearing extravagant outfits it looks like two peacocks trying to outbid each other. Traditionally, the guy should be understated, while the woman looks bold, but couples are welcome to challenge this notion. The outfits should compliment each other, whether in texture, color or shine.
...But be equally as luxe
Whether you're walking the red carpet or going on a date, the level of dressiness should be the same. It's awkward to see someone in a ball gown next to a guy in jeans. Be on the same level so neither looks over or under-dressed.
And well groomed
Shaggy beards and long hair screams "I don't care" attitude, which might be appropriate for the occasion, but next to a well-coiffed date just looks rediculous. Going back to my last point, keeping up with each other's hygiene and grooming is key to being presentable as a couple.
