In the Lifetime series "Project Runway," legendary mentor Tim Gunn tells his distressed designers to "make it work" but in his new reality show, will the mentors and designers be able to survive "Under the Gunn?"
In the new Lifetime series, "Project Runway: Under the Gunn," Tim Gunn switches gears from fashion mentor to reality show host in order to give "Project Runway" alumni Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee and Nick Verreos the chance to prove they have what it takes to mentor designers to success.
The mentors, who have launched their own successful careers with the support of "Project Runway," each have a team of designers they must coach. The mentors edit the designer's looks, share their runway wisdom and even console the designers when the fashion frenzy becomes too unbearable.
Instead of facing the familiar "Project Runway" panel, the group is judged by designer Rachel Roy, celebrity stylist Jen Rade and Marie Claire Senior Fashion Editor Zanna Roberts Rassi. The designers undergo similar challenges to the unconventional, unpredictable ones made famous in "Project Runway."
Each week, the designers will continue to race against the clock to make original, one-of-a-kind pieces in hopes to impress the judges and make it closer to obtaining the grand prize. In the end, one mentor and one designer will emerge as the winners. The lucky designer will take home a cash prize of $100,000, a top-of-the-line sewing and embroidery studio, a trip to Paris, a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, a 2014 Lexus and more.
